Breast Ultrasound

Breast Ultrasound

The breast ultrasound is a painless, harmless and bloodless method of imaging the breast parenchyma using an ultrasound beam.

It uses high-frequency sound waves to produce detailed images of the mammary gland.

Unlike mammography, ultrasound does not use radiation and is considered safe for pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers.

Ultrasound is used as a complement to mammography and not as a substitute.

We usually use it as an adjunct to take into account any mammographic or palpable findings in the breast.

It is also suitable for young women under 40 years of age and girls who have no indication for mammography.

Breast ultrasound should be performed by a qualified radiologist.

As false-positive findings are reduced and mammographic findings are characterized more efficiently.
