CT SCANNER-AXIAL TOMOGRAPH

Axial tomograph

In our diagnostic centre we use the Philips Brilliance 64 CT scanner, which is the most modern choice and ensures excellent imaging and very low radiation doses, using I dose algorithms.

It provides high quality images with remarkable scanning speed.

With the 64-volume CT scanner we carry out all general and special examinations:

    General examinations

  • Upper abdomen
  • Lower abdomen
  • Retroperitoneal space
  • Brain
  • Visceral skull
  • Lithoid bone
  • Ocular niches
  • Pituitary gland
  • Gulf of Parrina
  • Pretorian gland
  • Soft molecules
  • Trachyte country
  • Thoracic
  • Cervical spine
  • Thoracic spine
  • Lumbar spine
  • Irocco-Cyprus Spine Squadron
  • Joints (shoulder, elbow, elbow joint, glenohumeral joint and hand extremities, hip, knee, ankle joint)

    Special tests:

  • Angiograms
  • Chest with high definition technique (HRCT)
  • Chest with special embolisation protocol
  • Pancreatography
  • Urography
  • Axonometry

CT scans are performed on all interested parts upon appropriate indication. For reasons of radiation protection, CT scans are contraindicated in case of pregnancy and avoided in children, adolescents and young people. Most CT scans do not require any kind of preparation, except for the upper-lower abdominal CT scan and those that recommend the administration of iodinated contrast agent.

Practice instructions will be given to you by the secretariat of our centre, when scheduling your appointment.

In case you have a history of allergic reaction to previous iodinated contrast administration or you have a history of allergies, when planning the examination you should inform the secretariat so that you can be given the appropriate anti-allergy treatment..

In any case the team of our centre considers the necessity of administering iodinated contrast agent for the optimal quality of the examination , adjusting the dosage according to the scanning protocol and the patient's weight. The examinee is monitored throughout the procedure for any reaction by our qualified staff.

What do I need to know before the CT scan?

You will be asked to remove any metal objects that may affect the quality of the test. If you are receiving intravenous contrast material, and there is a history of allergy or if you have kidney failure, you will need to inform your doctor and have a urea and creatinine test done before undergoing a CT scan.

What do I need to know during and after the CT scan?

The CT scan takes about 15 minutes. Because some types of tests require intravenous contrast material, you should drink about five glasses of water after the test to quickly eliminate the contrast you received. If you are breastfeeding, it is safe to continue breastfeeding. After your CT scan, you will remain in our centre for about 30 minutes so that our staff can monitor you for any complications.
