General Preparation Instructions for a CT Scan
The preparation depends on the type of examination — with or without contrast agent — and the body area being scanned. Here are the most common instructions:
In Case of Contrast Use (Intravenous or Oral)
– You may feel a warm sensation or a metallic taste during the injection — this is normal and usually subsides quickly.
– After the exam, drink plenty of water to help flush the contrast from your body.
The medical team will evaluate the need for iodine-based contrast to ensure the highest image quality, adjusting the dosage according to the scan protocol and the patient’s weight, while the patient is monitored throughout the procedure for any reactions by our specialized staff.
